The Lancet launches new commission on global gun violence and health; AOAV’s executive director Dr Iain Overton appointed co-commissioner
In an effort to tackle the escalating global crisis of gun violence, The Lancet has announced the establishment of a new Commission on Global Gun Violence and Health. This Commission aims to address the pervasive issue of gun violence, which results in an estimated 600 deaths every day and causes countless more injuries worldwide. Bringing together an interdisciplinary team of experts, including AOAV’s Executive Director, Dr Iain Overton, the Commission seeks to develop evidence-based solutions to reduce gun-related deaths and injuries, ultimately improving public health and safety on a global scale.
